I found old pictures, old letters, old messages, old stories that I know I should delete. But I can’t.
I was an asshole once.
Things in the last 2 weeks.
These are all things you learn from film school, but only if you are doing things the right way. Except the being a girl part, that part is for girls.
I now know not to be producer, director, DP, and gaffer all on my own shoot, unless I want it to turn out to be a half assed piece of shit.
- I’m not a producer.
- I don’t know why people are producers, it’s so stressful.
- Being a producer of a film you are Directing/DPing is not a good idea because you are wrapped up in the politics and logistics of the shoot when you should be focusing on the creative.
- I am a good producer because I’m extremely aggressive and persistent.
- I would be okay producing, maybe, if it was not my film.
- Doing the job of 20+ people is not healthy.
- Recruiting your best friend, who isn’t in the field of filmmaking, to be a UPM, seems to be a more reliable option than others who may be in the field.
- Love your camera operator more than life.
- Relax…you need to relax…things are stressful, accept it.
- No amount of medication can curb the panic attack, talk through it with someone you trust.
- Some amount of medication can curb the anxiety.
- Working on another film, and editing it, as a “break” is sick.
- Having a significant other who is absolutely understanding of how ridiculous your life is, is invaluable. I can’t express that enough.
- Buy more ink cartridges.
- Spending an extra half hour to dress nice and look professional for meetings is worth it.
- Gas station food is not a “meal”.
- A half hour of sleep every 5 days is not healthy.
- The people I know are amazing. They will never know how much I appreciate them, for every little thing.
- Get over being a woman. Especially when you have to deal with dozens of sexist old men.
- Parents are amazing…and will try to help as much as they can.

I was more curious who this is… not so much about the Tucker Max-esque guy. Obviously he’s an asshole, and I’m sorry to hear you lost your virginity to this guy. Wish I knew what to say, other than not all guys are like that, and whoever you may be, my dear, well there is a person out there for you. In all likelyhood you’re probably someone young, and I’m willing to bet there are much better days and times ahead for you, with plenty of time to find that someone.

This is one of those questions that I think about when going to sleep at night - if I won the lotto, what would I do with a large sum of money?
In recent years I’ve been thinking that I would donate the vast majority of the money, or spend it in a way that many people can benefit. I can live on very little. Of $19 million, I would probably only spend $1 million on myself. I would buy a modest home, a nice car that I could fix up, build myself a video studio and editing lab, and finally a home theater room.
Donation-wise I think I would give a decent amount to organizations in the Philippines. Living there for a month last year showed me how much some people really need help, and that experience brought me perspective on how lucky we have it in the US and Canada.
I think I would also donate to various Children’s Hospitals around Metro Detroit.
The last thing I would do with my lottery money could only happen if I received the money today or tomorrow. There’s an old movie theatre in St. Clair Shores, aptly named the Shores Theater, that I would like to purchase, and either restore as an old-school super-classy movie theatre, or refurbish and modify into a live music venue. Growing up in the SCS, I’m familiar with the whole “there’s nothing to do here” mantra the youth have.
And also pay of debt, student loans, yadda yadda yadda.
Nerdy things to be excited about
I named my blog “lay down your burdens” after the Battlestar Galactica episode.
If you search for “lay down your burdens” in Google, my blog shows up at the bottom of the first page.
I can’t believe I’m somewhat excited about that.
